As with any social situation, with social media there is the urge to be accepted. Just because it is virtual does not mean that the usual thoughts, pressures, etc. don't apply. And yet, it seems like the people who stand out are the ones who embrace what is different about themselves. And these are not necessarily people who are radically different, just a little different.
